Asnet Technologies established Polycom in New Zealand, bringing the entire suite of Polycom products across all audio, video, bridging and infrastructure solutions, to the New Zealand market.

When the company was incorporated in 1999 by Chris Stewart it had a single office and sole agency for Polycom Video Conferencing products in New Zealand. Today the company has offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Mt Maunganui and Chris is still MD-Director. Denise Hansen, working in the company from 1999, and a shareholder, is asnet's Communication Manager. Also shareholders are the MD and Technical Manager of asnet Limited, a separate company and prominent provider of security and network infrastructure in New Zealand.

Since its inception asnet Technologies has been by default the sole New Zealand distributor of the complete Polycom product suite within the New Zealand market. With asnet Technologies' new status from July 1st 2010, it is shedding the role of distribution, to concentrate 100% on working with customers on achieving their best solutions.

asnet Technologies is widely regarded as New Zealand's market leading real-time video and voice communications specialist. The talented team of long-service, highly experienced industry professionals are the driving force behind asnet's excellence in video conferencing, VoIP, voice communication, telepresence and wireless applications.

This team success has been well recognised from its meteoric beginnings, with asnet winning four major awards, including Australia's prestigious AIMIA Overall Best Teleconferencing Award for 2001. Equally within the New Zealand market asnet has won awards from Best Teleconferencing Service, Best Videoconferencing Network to Network Person of the Year 2003. Chris Stewart, MD-Director, was named in the top 40 most influential in the IT industry in New Zealand in 2006, and is well-sought as an industry advisor and speaker.

In 2009 asnet Technologies completed the purchase of IP Communications, and appointed IPComm's MD, Richard Bishop, as its regional manager South Island, with staff to augment its engineering team covering New Zealand. asnet Technologies is a Certified Polycom Service Partner. In July 2008 the company achieved the highest Polycom partner status at that time, to be appointed a Certified Gold Partner. In the Gold level Certification Program Polycom recognises partners who demonstrate extensive knowledge in collaborative communication technologies, through rigorous testing in their selected product categories and associated service requirements. asnet Technologies achieved this in every product category.

In an announcement just made, Polycom has further honoured asnet Technologies by appointing it as inaugural Platinimum reseller for New Zealand, effective July 1 2010. Michael Chetner, Country Manager for Polycom in Australia and New Zealand stated this is “ in recognition of their expertise underpinning Polycom's growth here”. asnet Technologies has taken on two more sales staff and is focusing solely on its customers, handing over logistics to a company specializing in warehousing services. asnet Technologies customers operating around the globe with extensive deployment of Polycom video conferencing systems include Telecom, Telstra Clear, Fonterra, New Zealand Defence Force, Waikato University, Ministry of Education, Department of Statistics, IAG, University of Auckland, Vodafone, ANZ, ACC, Gen-i, Mighty River Power, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Ministry of Economic Development, Solid Energy, Vector, Westpac, Fire Service, ANZ, the Ministry of Health and the Health Telepaediatric network.

Managed Services provision is a major strength of the company. A team of 7 videoconferencing engineers are part of asnet's VCSupport, looking after customer endpoints and use of VC every day. asnet Technologies manages a number of sizeable videoconferencing networks for various enterprises, including Telecom, Telstra Clear, IAG, Fire Service, MED, ACC and the Ministry of Education's NZEdNet schools' video/audio bridge including the approximately 330 VC endpoints, 96% of which are Polycom videoconference room systems.

VideoNet™ Premium HD Managed Services is the new generation provision of an end-to end High Definition Videoconferencing solution that includes network access, endpoints, bridging, service and support, all within a single monthly fee.

asnet Technologies’ MeetNow Conferencing Service specialises in Audio, Video and Multipoint Conferencing Services, nationally and internationally, for clients outsourcing all their conferencing, or gateway and ISDN requirements. MeetNow also provides an Event Management Service. The Audio Conference Service 'Audio Simply' is used by a number of asnet Technologies’ key clients such as Meridian Energy, AXA, New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and a growing number of government agencies.
